10 Incredible Moments In The Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice Trailer

Last night saw the long overdue premiere of the new trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, and while some aspects of this latest look at the movie have been more than a little divisive, there's no denying the fact that the Zack Snyder-helmed release looks downright epic and a legit contender for 2016's best superhero movie. Packed full of major reveals like huge plot points, a first look at Doomsday and a breathtaking shot of The Trinity assembled on the big screen for the first time, Warner Bros. certainly didn't hold back here, and the trailer includes a very long list of epic moments and very cool nods to the comic book histories of these iconic characters. So, with all of that in mind, it begs the question: what were the most epic moments from this new Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer? Here, you'll find the ten biggest reveals, and the scene which had us on the edge of our seats and cheering at the screen. If one thing's for sure after watching this, it's that next March really can't get here soon enough... 10) Bruce Wayne Really Doesn't Like Clark Kent You don't need to look any further than the title of Batman V Superman to understand what this movie is all about, but one unexpected and very cool moment comes when Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent meet for the first time (much to the delight of the frustratingly energetic Lex Luthor). Considering the fact that there's a very good chance that Batman and Superman will ultimately reveal their secret identities to each other somewhere down the line, this is a scene that's sure to have some major ramifications for the future of these characters in the DCEU, and that just makes it all the more enjoyable to see play out. The tension between Bruce and Clark is surprising, though it ultimately sheds some light on why their alter-egos go to war with each other. 9) A Reference To The Joker Minds were blown when the first trailer for Batman V Superman included a shot of Robin's costume in what was a clear nod to the events of the classic "Death in the Family" storyline. However, the graffiti left on that by The Joker was an even bigger surprise, and fans have since been endlessly debating the ways that the Clown Prince of Crime will factor into this movie (a flashback is the most popular theory right now). Whatever the case may be, the fact that Bruce Wayne directly references him during his terse conversation with Clark Kent is one hell of an Easter Egg, and really makes it easy to get excited over learning more about the impact that The Joker has had on Batman's life. Still, comparing him to Superman? That's pretty damn harsh, Bruce! 8) Jesse Eisenberg's Brilliant Lex Luthor When it came to casting Lex Luthor in Batman V Superman, the most popular choice among fans was Bryan Cranston (presumably because he's an incredible actor, and not just because he'd played a bald bad guy in Breaking Bad). The decision by Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. to choose Jesse Eisenberg has been met with a fair bit of controversy though, with many worried that his performance will be little more than a slightly different version of The Social Network's Mark Zuckerberg. While there are no doubt some similarities, Eisenberg's Lex is a surprising highlight of this trailer. Completely insane and clearly very intelligent (not to mention thoroughly evil), his very different take on this classic villain is going to be something worth seeing. If nothing else, it should prove all the haters wrong - those same haters who originally doubted Ben Affleck as Batman. 7) Man Of Steel From A New Perspective It was reported some time ago in one of the magazine features on Batman V Superman that the movie will kick off with a prologue depicting the final battle in Man of Steel from the point of view of Bruce Wayne, and this trailer gives us a taste of that. What's great about this is the fact that we get something which was sorely missing from Man of Steel, and that's what the battle looked through the eyes of the people on the ground. Zack Snyder was so busy delivering epic action and emphasizing the potentially world ending threat (an understandable approach) that this side of things got lost in the shuffle. With that in mind, it should be very interesting to see this different perspective in Batman V Superman, especially as it informs Bruce's story arc. 6) Son Of Krypton vs. Bat Of Gotham When Lex Luthor describes Batman fighting Superman as, "the greatest Gladiator match in the history of the world," he's not wrong. One of my biggest concerns about this and every other Batman V Superman trailer to date has been the possibility that they would simply show too much of the fight between these heroes, leaving us all with very little to look forward to by the time next March finally rolls around. While this latest preview certainly doesn't hold back in that respect, it does a great job of teasing the war between the Dark Knight and Man of Steel, and regardless of whether it's Batman attempting to shoot Superman out of the sky or finally making him bleed (there's that question from the teaser answered), this just looks downright epic. 5) A Glimpse At Darkseid? The popular theory is that the scene above is a dream sequence (something which was seemingly confirmed by a toy of this version of the Caped Crusader which was labelled, "Knightmare Batman"). However, while those soldiers decked out with Superman's iconic logo can be seemingly explained by the Man of Steel going off the deep end and recruiting people to his cause, the flying creatures are a little harder to figure out. One possible explanation however is that they're Parademons, the mindless soldiers of Darkseid, the villain rumoured to be the big bad of Justice League Part One. If so, this may actually be a glimpse of the future that we're getting as Earth is ravaged by these monsters; perhaps the only way to stop that is for the heroes to team-up. 4) Superman Beats Batman Don't get me wrong, I'm 110% Team Batman, but you have to hand it to this trailer for addressing the elephant in the room and the question which many moviegoers will be asking themselves next March: Why doesn't Superman just use his heat vision to wipe Batman out of existence? The Man of Steel offers an explanation for that here as he battles the Dark Knight, but comic book fans will be well aware that Superman's inability to put Batman down is what gives Bruce Wayne the advantage. I wouldn't be remotely surprised to see Superman gain the advantage here only to quickly regret showing Batman mercy when the Caped Crusader pulls off some sort of dirty trick in his quest to take the Metropolis based hero down. Either way, it's going to be epic. 3) The Monster's Creation Rumours have pointed to Lex being the one responsible for the creation of Doomsday for a while now, and this trailer confirms both that and the fact that he does so by using Zod's remains. How he goes about that isn't easy to figure out, but some sort of bizarre alien tech appears to be what he's using to bring this monster to life. Interestingly, Lex seemingly only does so after realizing that Batman isn't going to put Superman down, forcing him to unleash this beast on Metropolis. It's ironic that Lex is happy to potentially kill thousands to stop Superman and that he does so in a very public manner, but could that mean this trailer spoils the fact that he'll end up behind bars? That remains to be seen, but it's still great to see Lex as a mad scientist. 2) Doomsday Revealed If I'm being completely honest here, Doomsday doesn't really look very good. Comparisons to everything from The Abomination to a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle aren't remotely unfair, but the important thing to remember here is that the villain adapts as he's being attacked, so chances are that we'll see him evolve into the version we know from the comics - who was responsible for killing Superman remember - as this fight progresses. Looks aside though, and this is freaking Doomsday fighting Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman! That's something it's been damn near impossible to imagine ever seeing on the big screen for years now, and the fact that this trailer confirms his presence leads to an undeniably exciting and epic reveal. 1) The Trinity Together At Last Personally, I wish that Warner Bros. had kept this moment for the movie itself. Seeing The Trinity standing side by side should have been something which was witnessed for the first time on the big screen, but what's done is done, and there's no escaping the fact that seeing these heroes standing side by side is nothing short of mind-blowing. Wonder Woman being front and centre is a great decision, and while some fans have taken umbrage with the decision to give Batman a gun, what else is the Caped Crusader going to do against a force as powerful as Doomsday? As Marvel has released movie after movie, seeing The Trinity together began to feel more and more like a pipe dream as time passed, but it's really happening, and this trailer proves it.
