10 Extremely Underrated Animated Comic Book Movies

While the fanboys battle it out on Facebook and Twitter about which cinematic universe is better, there's a whole bunch of animated comic book movies waiting around to be watched. Sure, some of them, such as Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, have garnered critical acclaim and legendary status, but many have also gone under the radar in a quiet fashion. I'm willing to bet that there's more than a handful that you've probably never even heard about.

DC Showcase: Green Arrow (2010)

Technically, this one is cheating a bit, because it’s a short film and was released as a special extra on the Superman/Batman: Apocalypse DVD. However, running in at just 12 minutes and available online nowadays, this feature captured the spirit of Green Arrow better than any five seasons of The CW show have.

You’d think for such a short piece that there would be nothing happening, but no. We get to see Oliver Queen duke it out with Count Vertigo and Merlyn – plus, there’s a special appearance by the Black Canary at the end of it. Best part, though? There’s no Felicity Smoak in sight!

Also, fun bit of trivia here: Neal McDonough voiced the Green Arrow in this feature. Nowadays, he’s better known for his role as Oliver’s nemesis Damien Darhk in Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow. I guess you can say he lived long enough to see himself become the villain.
