Age of Ultron

Right about now, you’re probably wondering why I’m talking about Age of Ultron just months after a movie titled Avengers: Age of Ultron was released. Well, it’s because the only thing they actually have in common is the title and choice of villain.

The story of Ultron taking over the world and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes being forced to travel back in time to fix the timeline is one which has a ton of potential. Brian Michael Bendis’ story was a mess, but there were some great parts, particularly the early chapters which saw The Avengers beaten, broken, and in hiding in a destroyed New York City ruled over by Ultron (whose destruction we never fully saw at the hands of The Vision) and his army.

Time travel would be something new in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and using that as the basis for Phase 4 opens the door to countless new storytelling possibilities.
