4) Ezekiel

One day out of the blue, Spider-Man was confronted by a mysterious older man who somehow had the same powers as him and knew his secret identity. Ezekiel revealed to Peter that his powers weren’t scientific in nature at all; they had a basis in magic. Despite being sceptical, Spidey found himself up against all sorts of mystical threats and Ezekiel was a good friend to the hero…until it was revealed that he meant to sacrifice Spider-Man to save himself, which was a shocking twist at the time.
Taking the franchise in this direction and throwing a mentor character like Ezekiel into the mix (think back to Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd’s relationship in Ant-Man as Hank Pym and Scott Lang) would be something quite interesting for this franchise, and arguably a little more exciting and different that putting Iron Man in that role.
The best part about this though would undoubtedly be the fact that Ezekiel’s introduction would lead to Spider-Man facing off with the deadly Morlun…
