12 Things You Might Have Missed In The Logan Trailer

Despite being one of the most beloved and iconic cinematic superheroes around, Wolverines's two solo movies do not rank among many people's top comic book movies. Both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine - in particular the former - squandered interesting premises as things devolved into mindless action. With the upcoming third Wolverine movie being Hugh Jackman's last appearance in the role after 17 years, there is a lot of pressure on it to step up to the plate and act as a terrific send-off to the character.

While Logan gets stabby-happy in the red-band trailer, the green-band version features an even more intriguing scene in its place. It shows Wolverine locked in a battle with an unseen opponent – an opponent who also has adamantium claws.

Initially, it would seem likely that it’s X-23. Yet she has previously always been depicted with only two claws on each hand (and one on each foot), whereas this mystery figure has the usual three. So, who is it?

Given what we know about the film – that the cloning-obsessed Essex is involved – we suspect that the big show-stopping finale will return the action to Alkali Lake, where Wolverine got his adamantium skeleton. Because where else is Logan’s story going to end? Presumably, Logan will have to face off against a clone of himself (one of the 22 that came before X-23). It could even be a version of Daken, Wolverine’s evil son from the comics.

On the other hand, we could be totally barking up the wrong tree. We’ll have to wait until March 3rd, 2017 to find out.
