12 Things You Might Have Missed In The Logan Trailer

Despite being one of the most beloved and iconic cinematic superheroes around, Wolverines's two solo movies do not rank among many people's top comic book movies. Both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Wolverine - in particular the former - squandered interesting premises as things devolved into mindless action. With the upcoming third Wolverine movie being Hugh Jackman's last appearance in the role after 17 years, there is a lot of pressure on it to step up to the plate and act as a terrific send-off to the character.

But, wait, that’s still not all. The Logan trailer leaves the most ominous shot until last. As Charles’ voiceover soothes “Logan, you still have time,” we see a tender moment between Logan and X-23. In the middle of a woods, Laura reaches for an emotional Logan’s hand as they look down at the ground. It doesn’t take Professor X himself to work out that dear old Xavier’s days look to be numbered.

We can assume that at some point on their journey away from the Reavers, the Professor passes away and they have to hold an impromptu funeral in the woods. This would explain why Laura is going incognito with a pair of sunglasses. Whatever the specifics of the scene, though, we’re pretty certain that it’s going to be very emotional. We’ve already seen Patrick Stewart’s Xavier die before, in X-Men: The Last Stand, but it looks to be a more permanent death this time around.

The final nail in the coffin – literally – is that Logan appears to be holding a shovel. When asked about this, James Mangold refused to open up. “I don’t know what’s in his hand,” he teased. “It could be a walking stick.”

Yeah, right. A walking stick…
