Helmut Zemo (Captain America: Civil War)

Recommended Videos

From Spider-Man’s outstanding cameo to the fight scene between Captain America and Iron Man, Captain America: Civil War did a lot of things right. Yet, the one major thing it failed in doing was introducing a good Helmut Zemo into the MCU.

As one of Captain America’s most famous foes, Zemo is meant to be tough and scary. This version of the character, however, was more like an angry SJW on a Twitter tirade. He probably could’ve been replaced by an anti-Zack Snyder blogger and no one would’ve noticed the difference.

Considering we’d already seen a really good Red Skull in Captain America: The First Avenger, one would’ve expected a more accurate depiction of Zemo as well. Sadly, we’ll have to wait and see if Daniel Brühl ever puts on the signature mask in a future Cap film.
