Remy – Annabelle from The Conjuring
I still feel like they should have done more with Annabelle, the little “haunted doll” from the beginning of The Conjuring. Not only was she creepy as Hell, but I was quite familiar with the story of the doll before I had even seen James Wan’s film.
An interesting fact most don’t know about the doll – the REAL Annabelle doll is a Raggedy Ann doll, and the true story is pretty much everything they showed us in the movie. It seemed that the doll was possessed and had a tendency to enjoy playing games. I just remember when the doll’s scene had ended, I was kind of disappointed though. They alluded to it a few other times in the film, but she’s mostly used as an introduction to Ed and Lorraine’s bigger case with the Perron’s.
I would have loved it if the Annabelle doll had more time dedicated to her and how chillingly creepy she really is, and the good news for me is it seems Annabelle WILL be getting her own film.
I know, I know, now that I say it and see it to be fact, I really hope it doesn’t ruin the impact she had in The Conjuring. As much as Matt loves Chucky, if Annabelle becomes a female Chucky, I am going to be awful pissed.
Oh, and James Wan, we know you have puppet issues. Don’t worry. You are hugely successful because we all obviously do too.
