5 More Star Wars Characters That Deserve Spin-Off Films

The rumours are swirling about Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg writing stand-alone films for the Star Wars universe, prompting some to believe the ultimate goal of Disney is to follow the Marvel formula and eventually release 2-3 films a year set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

I get it. If you’re over 35 you’re supposed to hate Ewoks. After all, how could a bunch of teddy bears overthrow the empire? Well guess what, I’m not over 35, and I love the Ewoks.

I’m also aware that the Ewoks already got spin-off films. The Ewok Adventure and Ewoks: The Battle for Endor were made for TV movies that focused on some kids stuck on Endor. While those films are cute and enjoyable for fans of Star Wars, what I want to see is a full-fledged, made for theaters Ewok adventure.

What better way to expose Star Wars to a new generation of children then to let them grow up on a few Ewok films and then graduate to the other Star Wars films. It’s only a matter of years before kids who grow up on flawless special effects won’t be interested in the original trilogy (sad I know, and I’m dreading the day, but it will happen). Give them these Ewok films and they’ll fall in love with the Star Wars Universe.

That doesn’t mean that the films have to be just for little kids. A whole species of little ferocious beasts living on the moon of a planet can be dark as well, I’m just saying keep this one with a PG rating.

I’m very interested to see the origin of Ewoks though. How did these little creatures come to live on a moon, and how are they so well equipped for battle when the time comes? That’s the story I want to see. Help me out Disney.
