5 More Star Wars Characters That Deserve Spin-Off Films

The rumours are swirling about Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg writing stand-alone films for the Star Wars universe, prompting some to believe the ultimate goal of Disney is to follow the Marvel formula and eventually release 2-3 films a year set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.

Wedge Antilles

I know this pick may not be as common as the rest I have on this list, but hear me out…

Wedge Antilles is regarded as possibly the greatest fighter pilot in all the Rebellion. That’s a pretty impressive honor to hold. He’s also the only pilot to have survived both attacks on the Death Star. Talk about having some survivor’s guilt there. This film could obviously be a lot more than Top Gun in space, but then again, do we really need it to be anything more than that?

Show Antilles training to be a fighter and then have some awesome dogfights in space. He was the one who saved Luke from the TIE fighter that Luke couldn’t shake. Let me repeat that: Luke Skywalker, a Jedi in training, couldn’t shake the fighter, but Antilles gunned it down no problem. Very impressive if you ask me.

He’s the lead character in many of the X-Wing novels, so it isn’t as if there’s a lack of information to pull from. Bring in the whole Rogue Squadron that Antilles creates and show the adventures and missions that they go on across the Galaxy. An Antilles film would be another great way to reveal some of the lesser known parts of the Star Wars universe.

Those are my picks for 5 other Star Wars films? What do you think of the choices? Which characters would you rather see in a stand-alone film? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
