5) Victor Frankenstein (October 2nd)
As Daniel Radcliffe’s filmography proceeds to become considerably darker with each new addition, we’re left to wonder whether the former boy wizard will end up playing the Devil himself by the time he turns 30. After being cast as a widowed lawyer in the supernatural horror The Woman in Black, and then putting in a deliciously dark performance as the devilish Ignatius Perrish in Horns, in October 2015 he will be seen portraying the most famous hunchback in the movies who isn’t from Notre Dame.
We’re talking about Igor of course – and in this latest rendition of Mary Shelley’s classic horror, Paul McGuigan tells the famous story of Frankenstein from the assistant’s perspective; portraying his association with mad scientist Victor Frankenstein like never before.
The film is director McGuigan’s first real venture into the horror genre, and is another ambitious effort by a diverse filmmaker who has yet to truly wow critics. With a classic story and solid cast behind him that includes James McAvoy, Andrews Scott, and Jessica Brown Findlay as well as Radcliffe, perhaps Victor Frankenstein may be the big achievement from McGuigan that so many have been waiting for.
