5 Villains That We Want To See In Avengers: Infinity War

After an eternity of waiting, Avengers: Age of Ultron is finally about to hit heatres... so naturally, the fanboys are already looking ahead to what comes next. Those disappointed that Joss Whedon has declined to direct the two-part Avengers: Infinity War should rejoice that the movies will at least be left to the capable hands of Anthony and Joe Russo, both of whom helmed Captain America: The Winter Soldier to critical acclaim.

But… but… she’s one of the Avengers, right? The Scarlet Witch has had a more convoluted history than most superheroes and as anyone who actually reads comic books knows, that’s saying something.

Magneto’s daughter was first introduced to readers as a member of the villainous Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, but soon defected to the Avengers with her twin brother Quicksilver. Things got a lot crazier though when she ended up marrying the Vision, a synthetic android, and somehow even managed to bear children with him. Pretty insane… but that’s not even half of it.

After a while, the Scarlet Witch’s children disappeared and readers soon discovered that the twins were actually missing shards of a demon’s soul. Yep. Understandably, this left Wanda somewhat unbalanced and eventually, she turned evil, killing Hawkeye, her former lover the Vision and even de-powered 90% of the mutant population.

While the Scarlet Witch has now seen the error of her ways, Wanda’s betrayal of the team led to one of the darkest moments that the Avengers have ever faced… and wouldn’t that be incredible to see on the big screen? After playing a pivotal role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, it’s not a stretch to imagine Wanda losing control later in the franchise, perhaps even turning against her teammates as soon as Avengers: Infinity War.

Despite counting a god and an unstoppable juggernaut among members of the team, the Scarlet Witch is still arguably the most powerful of all the Avengers, yet also the most fragile. With the power of the infinity gems at his disposal, could Thanos coerce the team’s newest member to turn on her own, perhaps even taking one of them out for good?

Tell us, which villain would you be most excited to see in the upcoming Avengers movies? Can you think of any other opponents who should make the cut? And, are you disappointed that no one mentioned Paste-Pot Pete? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
