7 Actors Who Should Be Cast In DC’s Standalone Films And Who They Should Portray

As we're sure you're all aware by now, the DCEU – or whatever it should be called – will still exist after Justice League, but the filmmakers will be allowed to experiment more with standalone outings. While the Joker origin movie is gearing up to be the first in this new line of DC projects, there's a lot of chatter that Matt Reeves' The Batman will also be set early on in the Caped Crusader's crime-fighting career.

Sterling K. Brown (Lucius Fox)

If there’s a younger Batman, there needs to be Lucius Fox – the man who helped him with all the tech needed to become Gotham’s silent protector. Morgan Freeman portrayed a phenomenal Fox in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, so we’ll need an equally adept actor to take over the mantle in The Batman.

This is why we propose two-time Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown for the role. When you talk about versatility, there’s no one who can pull off what Brown’s doing at the moment. Additionally, if he brings a little of his Randall Pearson (This Is Us) personality to Fox, he’ll certainly gloss the character with a kindness and good nature that’ll make him extremely popular and an instant hit.

Honestly, we just want Brown in the DC film universe in any shape or form. Marvel has already drawn first blood by casting him as N’Jobu, a figure from T’Challa’s past, in 2018’s Black Panther, but we think he could serve a much bigger role in The Batman. Make this happen, Warner Bros.
