7 Insane Marvel Movie Theories That Will Blow Your Mind

We're now twelve movies in and the Marvel Cinematic Universe shows no signs of slowing down. Anticipation for both Doctor Strange and Captain America: Civil War is building day by day and films scheduled to be released further down the line are regularly discussed on movie sites. What's most impressive about Marvel Studios though is the way that they've successfully adapted the shared universe of their source material, linking each of their films to create an ongoing saga.

Red Skull

In comics, no one stays dead for long, whether you want them to or not, and the same appears to be true in the movie adaptations as well.

Nicky Fury’s demise in Captain America: The Winter Soldier was short-lived and Agent Coulson was quickly resurrected to star in Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., leading many to question whether the Red Skull’s death was as permanent as it first appeared.

At the end of Captain America: The First Avenger, the Red Skull ironically appeared to be killed off by the one thing he wanted most in the world – the Tesseract. As one of the six infinity stones, the Tesseract’s power proved to be too great for everyone’s favourite Nazi, and he ‘died’ in the resultant explosion.

Many fans believe that the Red Skull didn’t really die, but was actually teleported far away to the other side of the universe. Wishful thinking? Well, a similar energy effect was also seen when Thor and Loki used the Tesseract to return to Asgard at the end of The Avengers.

Either Marvel were being particularly stingy with their special effects budget that year or there’s a strong chance that the Red Skull is still alive, hanging out with his equally attractive bro Thanos while he bides his time for revenge.
