7 Good Guy Movie Characters Who Could Have Easily Been Bad Guys

Ever watch someone in a movie do something that made you think, “did he really just do that?” Well, it happens a lot, but because said someone is usually the film’s main character and we want them to win, we let stuff like catastrophic destruction or murder - you know, the little things - slide.

There’s something about a masked vigilante that’s always troublesome; and though the Caped Crusader’s bat-like appearance is meant to strike fear into the heart of his enemies, if we lived in Gotham City, we’d be scared of Batman.

I’m sure some of you are shaking your heads right about now because Batman’s a superhero, and he’ll do whatever he can to protect the people! Theoretically, he should. But even the people of Gotham are frightened by him; in about all the different forms of Batman stories from the various comic book universes to movies like Mask of the Phantasm, there has been rebellion against him. This is especially true in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

But if you take into account what Batman (Christian Bale) is, what he really is, it’s difficult to blame Gotham City for their hesitation. Batman is a man, a masked somebody with no regard for the law and access to indefensible and dangerous contraptions. Sure, he’s trying to protect his hom, but how could they know that?  What’s stopping him from going after Gotham? More importantly, who would stop him from going after Gotham?

I don’t mean to suggest that I dislike Batman, it’s just that there are some things that cannot be overlooked when it comes to his power. Besides, it’s not like he’s the most effective of the superheroes; it seems that crime has gotten even worse since he turned up – for the Joker, the Dark Knight is a source of motivation. But the Batman, in these three movies, is loyal to his city, which makes him a powerful weapon against the crime and corruption that plague its streets.
