7 Star Wars Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spinoff

Disney's got some big plans involving Star Wars, their latest hot stock. With Rogue One proving to be a major success (anybody else still get goosebumps when they think about those last five minutes?) and a Han Solo spinoff already in production, we can be sure that these two “anthology” stories will not be the last of their kind.

Mace Windu could have been one of the coolest Jedi in the Galactic Republic. Samuel L. Jackson automatically puts any character he plays into contention in the clash for cool; that obviously applies to galaxies far, far away as well, as he can wield a purple lightsaber with no questions asked. But with minimal screen time, and not a lot of character development, Windu’s presence in the prequels was disappointing to say the least.

However, that doesn’t mean that the character should be forgotten about. In fact, we know that he’s one of the best with a lightsaber, nearly taking down the Emperor in Revenge of the Sith. He even blocked force lightning! Like Darth Maul, Windu is one of the few specialists in the seventh form of lightsaber, known for their more aggressive and unpredictable fighting styles. Seeing that purple saber back in action again would be enough of a reason to make this film.

Beyond that though, a spinoff could also explore Windu’s adventures prior to or between the prequels, as well as the hierarchy of the Jedi Order, and give audiences a better look at the Jedi as an army of galactic peacekeepers, which, thanks to Order 66, we don’t get to see a lot of.

Really though, we just want to see the purple saber again. Let us see it, Disney!
