7 Star Wars Characters Who Deserve Their Own Spinoff

Disney's got some big plans involving Star Wars, their latest hot stock. With Rogue One proving to be a major success (anybody else still get goosebumps when they think about those last five minutes?) and a Han Solo spinoff already in production, we can be sure that these two “anthology” stories will not be the last of their kind.

Obi-Wan Kenobi

This is the big one.  Everyone wants to see this happen; fans love the idea and Ewan McGregor, who starred as Kenobi in the three prequel films, has had no problem expressing his interest in reprising the role.  There is, after all, a 20-year hiatus between Episodes III and IV where McGregor’s Obi-Wan turns into the veteran master Ben (Alec Guinness).

Admittedly, this period has been explored a bit in Star Wars Rebels, but with the exception of what we learn in Rogue One, the casual viewers don’t really know anything about this time span. At the end of Revenge of the Sith, Kenobi emerged victorious over the now Darth Vader, and went into exile on the desert planet Tatooine, where he could watch over the infant Luke Skywalker. Then he kind of drops off the face of the galaxy, and re-emerges as the whitened and wise mentor.

What did Obi-Wan learn during this time?  Did he immerse himself in the ways of the force? Perhaps his former master, Qui-Gon, helped him the way he will eventually help the young Skywalker.  There are so many ways to go with a Kenobi-based film that it’s amazing it hasn’t happened yet. Out of all the Star Wars spinoffs that fans want to see, this one easily tops the list.
