Wonder Woman is a movie which has been stuck in development hell for years now, with Warner Bros. seemingly reluctant to move forward with a female led superhero blockbuster after seeing the way the likes of Catwoman and Elektra flopped. Finding the right story also always seemed to be a challenge for them, too, and not even Joss Whedon could talk them into making it.

I mentioned Diana’s fight scenes previously, but seriously, how great is it to finally see the Amazonian warrior kicking ass like this in live-action? Batman V Superman made it clear that she’s a force to be reckoned with, but it will clearly be Wonder Woman which really emphasizes why that is.

However, as great as it is to see Wonder Woman effortlessly take out the soldiers standing in her way, the most empowering moment arguably comes when she dismisses Steve Trevor’s insistence that he can’t let her do what she plans to (what that is remains to be seen). Most superhero movies would have the male hero step forward to save the day after a comment like that, but Wonder Woman shoots him down in order to do what she pleases – tell me that isn’t freakin awesome.
