8 Characters We Need To See In The Deadpool Sequel

With Deadpool breaking numerous box office records this past weekend, pretty much everyone is now wondering where things can go in the sequel. While Cable has already been semi-confirmed as showing up, it's damn near impossible to guess where Wade Wilson's story is going to go next after the incredible first instalment. One thing's for sure though, and that's that we need to see a bunch of new characters make their respective presences felt in the follow-up. Over the years, the Merc with a Mouth has worked alongside a long list of unexpected heroes and taken on many great villains, all of whom would bring something special to the table when it comes to his next movie. However, what you'll find here are the eight best possible choices in regards to which comic book characters need to show up in Deadpool 2. Will all of them make the cut? Not necessarily, but seeing just one or two of the characters listed here show up would be nothing short of amazing. Not to mention that them making an appearance would be guaranteed to shake the franchise up in a major way, as Fox looks to take advantage of building a world around their new R-Rated superhero. So, without further ado, check out our list of 8 characters that need to show up in the Deadpool sequel. 8) Taskmaster Unfortunately, Deadpool director Tim Miller recently revealed that the rights to Taskmaster have reverted to Marvel Studios. However, with them and Fox now seemingly on better terms than in the past (hence why those X-Men TV shows are happening), it would be nice to think that some sort of deal for this character to appear in the sequel could be made. Capable of copying the fighting style of anyone he comes in contact with, the downside to that for Taskmaster is that his memories are constantly being wiped away by the new things he learns. Pitting Deadpool against someone who would essentially be his equal has a lot of potential and based on the many times these two have teamed up or squared off in the comic books, it's fair to say that seeing them do so again in live-action would definitely work. Having the Merc with a Mouth encounter other costumed mercenaries is a must now the origin story is out of the way, as it opens the door to loads of exciting storytelling possibilities. 7) Juggernaut The Juggernaut doesn't exactly have a huge amount of history with Deadpool, but they've met a fair few times and it would definitely be good to see another version of this character on the big screen in the near future. Having previously been played by Vinnie Jones in X-Men: The Last Stand (sorry for reminding you about that), the Deadpool sequel could go down the Colossus route of making him an entirely CGI character, something which means fans could look forward to seeing a more comic book accurate version of the villain. The Juggernaut is unstoppable, so Wade going up against him would no doubt have some hilariously violent consequences, and seeing how the Merc with a Mouth ultimately stops him would definitely be interesting. Throwing in longtime Juggernaut ally Black Tom Cassidy also creates some potentially awesome new directions for the sequel to head in, especially if it borrows material from Deadpool's earliest adventures with Cable and the New Mutants/X-Force. 6) Copycat We've technically already met Copycat, but seeing as Morena Baccarin's Vanessa Carlysle didn't display any of her comic book counterpart's mutant abilities in Deadpool, it's essential that we get to see those in the follow-up. A good way to explain the sudden onset of her mutant powers would be to reveal that Ajax performed some of his dastardly experiments on her before Wade stopped him, though it could just as easily be revealed that "Vanessa" is just the current form that this shape shifter has taken in a bid to live a normal life. What separates her from Mystique is that Copycat has the ability to imitate the powers of any mutant she comes across, something which obviously makes her extremely powerful. It would also shake up the relationship between Deadpool and Vanessa in a major way, something which might be pretty important, especially as it would obviously be quite redundant to have her fill the role of damsel in distress for a second time. 5) T-Ray Outside of Ajax, T-Ray is perhaps Deadpool's greatest enemy, so pitting these two against each other in the sequel would definitely work. Of course, the movie would probably have to drop the fact that he claims to be the real Wade Wilson, as it would really complicate everything we saw in the first movie, but that does have at least some potential depending on how the writers go about handling it. Regardless, T-Ray is a truly sadistic and twisted mercenary, and playing on their history (even if it's one which is newly created for the big screen) could lead to him being a really interesting protagonist for this movie. At one point, T-Ray uses magic to resurrect the Merc with a Mouth's dead wife - could that be a way of creating Copycat? - making things between these two really twisted and personal. As Deadpool doesn't exactly have a massive rogues gallery, T-Ray seems like the natural choice of villain for the next movie in this franchise, and there are definitely a lot of great places he could be taken. 4) X-Force Ryan Reynolds has said a few times that he wants to bring X-Force into the franchise, and the team being formed by the end of the Deadpool sequel in order to set the stage for their (hopefully R-Rated) spinoff would be perfect. Essentially a group of mutant assassins, X-Force do the jobs too dirty for the X-Men in order to protect their people. A long list of characters have been part of the team over the years, though Cable was responsible for forming the first iteration, and with him set to take on a leading role in the Deadpool follow-up, launching a new franchise with Nathan Summers as their leader makes perfect sense. The Merc with a Mouth would also need to be there, of course, but if Fox is unsure whether or not an X-Force movie is a good idea, testing the water here first would be a smart business decision, especially if Cable has already put the group together when we first meet him. The Deadpool sequel could even kick off with them travelling back in time because they need Wade's help (good luck with that guys). 3) Siryn The daughter of Banshee (a character who appeared in X-Men: First Class), Siryn ended up becoming the unexpected co-star of Deadpool's solo title in the 1990s. Wade fell head over heels for the X-Men member, and while his behaviour often bordered on being more than a little bizarre - sleeping under her window outside the X-Mansion for example - things between them got pretty sweet, especially as Siryn was one of the first people to see through Deadpool's witty façade and treat him with kindness. For her to take on a leading role as a new love interesting in the Deadpool sequel, that obviously means we'll need to say goodbye to Vanessa, but does she really have all that much of a story left to tell? Of course, should she be revealed as Copycat, that would actually give the Merc with a Mouth a good excuse to turn his attentions elsewhere. The first Deadpool movie did such a great job with Colossus that getting to see this sonic screaming mutant in the sequel is definitely an exciting thought. 2) Dr. Killebrew In the original draft of the Deadpool screenplay, the defeated Ajax revealed to Wade that his true creator was Dr. Killebrew and that he's the only one capable of repairing the scars covering the Merc with the Mouth's body. An after-credits scene then showed the mysterious villain heading off into the unknown, and it seemed as if the stage was being set for the sequel to follow Deadpool's attempts to track this guy down. With Cable instead set to make his presence felt next time, it looks like the decision was made to drop that subplot, but it would still be interesting to bring Killebrew into this world. Deadpool is obsessed with killing the doctor, but it turns out that Killebrew actually cares a lot about the man he considers his greatest creation, attempting at one point to make up for his past misdeeds by saving Wade's life. Honestly, it's tough to see how this could now factor into the follow-up without any prior set-up, but it's a relationship which is worth exploring on the big screen at some point in the near future. 1) Domino If the producers really want to bring an interesting new lead into the mix in a couple of years from now, Domino is the way to go. The character has exceptional marksmanship and hand-to-hand skills, and also possesses mutant probability-altering powers which she's used to further her career as a mercenary. They're basically good luck powers; if for example she jumps out of a hotel window to avoid some goons who are after her, chances are that Domino will have a safe landing in a swimming pool below. Given her connections to X-Force and Cable (she's frequently been portrayed as his lover), common sense says that there's a spot for her in this sequel, especially if that team and any number of its members are going to be introduced. Seeing as Domino has a pretty antagonistic relationship with Wade, romance for them is out of the question, but seeing them work together in the comics has always been fun and would definitely work in a movie, too.
