8 Obscure X-Men Characters We Need To See In Deadpool 2

The original X-Men trilogy and subsequent spin-offs pushed Hugh Jackman's Wolverine to the fore, often at the expense of other potentially more interesting characters, but the success of Deadpool proves that the franchise no longer needs to rely exclusively on recognisable names.

Boom Boom

Imagine a world where Jubilee didn’t suck, a world where her powers were actually used effectively and her “street rat” background was used to flesh out her personality in a genuinely interesting way. Imagine no more, my friends. I just described Boom Boom, a mutant who has fought with both the New Mutants and X-Force over the past few decades.

Admittedly, the name Boom Boom sounds like a teenage euphemism for sexy time, but Tabitha Smith has worked through a number of code names in her life, including Time Bomb, Boomer and Meltdown, but Boom Boom makes me giggle, so that’s the one we’re going with here.

As you may have gathered, Boom Boom is able to create explosions using balls of energy that detonate on will. Although her power is somewhat similar to Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s abilities in the Deadpool film, Boom Boom is a vastly underrated character who could finally earn her dues in the upcoming sequel. In fact, the similarities between the two mutants could provide an easy punchline for Deadpool, whose fondness for breaking the fourth wall will hopefully be explored further in his next solo movie.

Boom Boom is also a regular ally of Cable’s in the comics, so the two could be introduced together in Deadpool 2 as a double act to rival Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. My money’s on the girl that sounds like a cheeky sex act.
