8 Unannounced Characters We Want To See In Marvel Movies

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been growing to epic proportions since it first opened with Iron Man in 2008. Since then, plenty of the company's most popular characters have been added across numerous standalone films and two huge Avengers titles. The future of the MCU is plotted through to 2020 as well, which will include another ensemble piece with Captain America: Civil War in 2016. Not only is Cap's third movie bringing a number of existing Marvel heroes together, but it's also going to provide debuts for Black Panther and - most excitingly - Marvel's first version of the web-slinger: Spider-Man. Since Spidey is still officially the property of Sony where movies are concerned, there was always a fear that perhaps the character would never get the chance to unite with his colleagues in The Avengers. With a deal between Marvel Studios and Sony being reached earlier this year though, who knows what other collaborations or cooperations could lie in the future of the MCU? With than in mind, we've been thinking about all of the impressive characters we'd like to see make their way from the page to the screen. As it stands, there may be one or two ownership deals in the way of these, but let's all dream, true believers! 8) Red Hulk Perhaps closest of all to being cast into a Marvel movie is the Red Hulk, since his non-powered form is due to appear yet again in Captain America: Civil War. General Thunderbolt Ross, the longtime adversary of Bruce Banner's Hulk, first became the Red Hulk in a 2008 Marvel comics story. Designed to be a more intelligent, tactically efficient version of the original Hulk, the conception of the beast was meant to be General Ross' greatest attempt to stop Banner once and for all. It quickly became apparent that he was just as uncontrollable and dangerous as Banner's Hulk, however, and in early issues, he even killed several of Banner's foes, including Abomination. Adding the Red Hulk to the MCU could not only make for a way of refreshing Banner's involvement in the ongoing stories, but also add scope for further heroes to join the Avengers, as Captain America was able to recruit him to fight with Earth's Mightiest Heroes after his identity was revealed. 7) Nova As the Marvel Cinematic Universe grows and continues to shift its focus to events in the wider galaxy, rather than mostly on earth, adding characters that can naturally enhance this is a logical step. Since the planet Xandar and the Nova Corps have already appeared in Guardians Of The Galaxy, surely the hero himself cannot be far behind, right? Despite being human and of earth like Peter Quill's Star-Lord, Richard Rider was actually given a remarkable set of powers when he was plucked from New York to take on the identity of Nova. Having faced Thanos within the pages of several Marvel comics and with Xandar's people already having suffered at the hands of Thanos in the MCU, there would be plenty of reason for him to join the ongoing conflict. Add to this the fact that his powers with the Nova Force would be visually striking, and it's easy to see that Rider would make a great addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 6) Silver Sable As a mercenary and hunter of various war criminals, Silver Sable has clashed with various Marvel heroes in the past due to her fairly unforgiving methods and motives. In more recent years, however, she has been seen to be strongly allied with the likes of Spider-Man and Daredevil and has even once proved to be a romantic foil for the former. As a citizen of the fictional state of Symkaria, she has a longstanding understanding with Dr. Doom, and was subjected to a harsh training regime by her Nazi-hunting father after the death of her mother. As a result, she dedicates herself to being subjective and ultimately emotionless, though sometimes this latter ideal is overcome in the heat of battle. Silver Sable is by no means a simple character, however, and shares several parallels with the already-seen Black Widow. If nothing else, her future inclusion in the MCU could provide a little growth and focus for Natasha Romanoff, as she bonds with a kindred spirit in later plotlines. Lord knows the Hawkeye stories aren't doing it. 5) Kraven The Hunter Okay, I'll admit that this is not the first time I've put forward my belief that Kraven needs to make his way into a Marvel movie sooner rather than later, but honestly, how have we had five different Spider-Man movies without him even making it onto the screen once?! We talked recently about how Kraven's Last Hunt should be one of the stories considered for the Spider-Man reboot, but there's so much more to the character than just one great story. After all, how many of the villains in Spidey's rich company have managed to so regularly force the webslinger to outdo his own feats of bravery and fight so desperately for survival. Kraven has also appeared in some standout stories for other Marvel heroes, including a wonderful showdown with Daredevil. He's just the kind of vicious, calculated villain that the MCU needs. You can only have so many fantastical and mythical bad guys, you know... 4) Galactus First things first, in no way can it be considered that the lifeless, unimaginative version of Galactus that appeared in Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer was a faithful or adequate on-screen portrayal of the Devourer of Worlds. While concept art revealed in 2013 suggested that the film's creative team almost gave fans a much better version of the character, it's probably best that we all just forget the rubbish they ultimately churned out for us. Agreed? Cool. With Thanos currently filling the vacancy for "big, scary weirdo floating around on a chair," we all know that eventually that he's not going to be there anymore. Chances are he'll be defeated by The Avengers at the end of the two-parter Infinity Wars. So who will be the greatest threat to the universe from then on? Fortunately, Galactus - should the rights be available - could step in to solve this problem AND another for Marvel. Bringing Galactus to the MCU could be the perfect reason to introduce the Fantastic Four and re-vitalize them after they were sent floundering by the failure of their latest on-screen exploits. He may be the Devourer of Worlds, but Galactus could just be the saviour of Marvel's First Family. 3) Sentry Many of the heroes already introduced into the MCU are well-powered, but very few hit absolute heights. Thor and The Hulk do, for example, while the likes of Cap, Iron Man and even Spider-Man all consistently have to excel themselves to succeed against great odds. Introducing more truly powerful characters into upcoming Marvel movies could certainly add a little extra danger to the lives of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Cue The Sentry: the persona forgotten about by middle-aged and overweight Robert Reynolds until he has visions of his returning enemy the Void. Marvel managed to retrospectively insert Sentry into their comic history by also showing other heroes to have forgotten about him (with some exceptions) before his return. His power is immense and he has proven to be a vital player in some recent event storylines that Marvel have put together. He's also very complex and, in the Siege storyline, it becomes known that his enemy the Void is actually a repressed and dangerous part of his own personality. This schizophrenic tendency would make for a truly intriguing battle on-screen, don't you think? 2) Spider-Woman The screen presence for Marvel's excellent female heroes is steadily growing, after taking a rather slow start, but one who's still unfortunately yet to be announced is Spider-Woman: Jessica Drew. The belief is that Sony still officially owns the rights to Spider-Woman and this has been a part of the same delay in getting Peter Parker into the MCU. Since we're shooting the breeze and imagining a world where Marvel Studios can use all of their great heroes, however, let's go ahead and hope that that excuse won't exist for much longer. Having worked as an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D before joining up with The Avengers, genetically enhanced Drew could make a very smooth transition into the MCU through the studio's television properties. Spider-Woman carries many of the athletic abilities that Spider-Man does, and we all know just how impressive his acrobatic exploits can look on screen. Additional powers include the generation of fear-inducing pheromones that, coupled with the manipulative powers of Scarlet Witch, could see her be quite the force to be reckoned with in the current Avengers line-up on screen. And, who knows, maybe she could be on her way in the same deal that's bringing Peter Parker across. 1) Miles Morales Okay, two spider characters right at the head of this list? Pretty unimaginative, huh? Miles Morales' Ultimate Spider-Man series has proven to be immensely popular with Marvel fans, and the fact that the publishers are maintaining both him and Peter Parker in the wake of their fat-trimming Secret Wars storyline proves that Morales has become just as vital as Peter. So why, then, with the MCU expanding into space with Guardians Of The Galaxy, can't the films soon open up to encompass the alternate universes that existed in the Marvel world for so long? It doesn't have to be Peter or Miles, as both characters could exist together in the MCU. The popular mini-series Spider-Men proved just how interesting it can be when the two versions of the hero meet, and adding Miles as a fresh foil could help prevent a twice-rebooted Peter Parker from growing stale before we get a good series out of him. Kevin Feige may have denied that Miles would be appearing anytime soon, but did still express an interest in employing the hero at some point down the line. We have to hope he and the studios pursue this, as the character would ultimately (no pun intended!) be a true asset to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
