Doctor Doom

There’s no denying that Doctor Doom is a great villain. Unfortunately, he’s now been botched in a major way on the big screen across all three (four if you count Roger Corman’s unreleased effort) Fantastic Four movies.

While it would be nice to revisit the villain – especially with Toby Kebbell, one of the reboot’s only saving graces, in the role – as the magic using Latverian dictator he is in the comic books, putting Doom on the shelf for the time being would ultimately be for the best. The franchise needs some fresh blood and a foe for the team that people don’t look at as more of the same.

There are any number of options when it comes to villains, whether it’s Annihilus or Kang the Conqueror. One major advantage Fox has over Marvel is that they own the rights to the shape shifting alien race known as the Skrulls, and the potential for a great movie there is obvious, especially if the Fantastic Four were to square off the the Super Skrull.

Should the franchise find its footing, Doom could easily be reintroduced a little further down the line when the disappointing version from Josh Trank’s is a long distant memory, but for now, it’s vital that the not so good Doctor be shelved for the good of the team.

Oh, and it goes without saying that introducing the real Galactus could lead to some downright amazing pieces of imagery and a truly epic battle for the team.
