With all the excitement swirling around the imminent new trailers for both Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Justice League, it’s easy to forget that there’s another massive blockbuster quickly approaching that’s also due for another preview. That’d be Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther, which is getting ready to claw its way into theatres on February 16th. Sure, that may still be a ways away, but given that the last proper trailer we got was back in June, we’d say that it’s about time some new footage reared its head, wouldn’t you?
Thankfully, it looks like we’ll be getting just that quite soon, as ComicBook.com reports that the next promo may be on the way. Though Marvel has yet to make any official announcement, the outlet points to Disney updating their online press site for Black Panther as a sign of things to come. Of course, that’s hardly a confirmation that a new trailer is on route, but again, it’s about time we saw one and with both New York Comic Con and Thor: Ragnarok quickly approaching, Marvel has two great opportunities to show off that next chunk of footage, and they’re surely eager to do so.
After all, aside from the fact that the spinoff is the final MCU flick to precede the all-encompassing Avengers: Infinity War, the origin movie is also about to become the studio’s first big-budget blockbuster to be anchored by a black superhero. That responsibility has been thrust on the burly shoulders of Chadwick Boseman, who made his Marvel debut via Captain America: Civil War back in 2016.
Indeed, Joe and Anthony Russo’s super-sized ensemble movie helped lay the groundwork for Black Panther in that King T’Chaka of Wakanda, father to the young T’Challa (Boseman), was killed off during the opening portion of the film. And now, coming out of his appearance in the threequel, fans are curious to know more about the fictional nation of Wakanda.
Marvel and Ryan Coogler will unleash Black Panther upon the moviegoing masses on February 16th. Indeed, 2018 is shaping up to be a landmark year for T’Challa, what with Avengers: Infinity War also booked in for May 4th. Be sure to stay tuned to WGTC as we’ll have more on that new trailer for you as soon as any further updates arise.
