Today sees the arrival of a couple awesome character posters for John Hillcoat‘s upcoming film Lawless, starring Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf and Jessica Chastain. The upcoming Weinstein Company film focuses on the prohibition era, specifically on three bootlegging brothers who are threatened by authorities that want in on the action.
The fantastic cast is made up of Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska, Guy Pearce, Noah Taylor and Dane DeHaan.
In other Lawless news, Jessica Chastain has revealed that she’ll be doing a nude scene.
 “It will be totally embarrassing,” she said to USA Today of her nude scene. “I am going to be bright red. I’ll have to cover my eyes during that scene.” But do not expect her to be exploited in those moments. “I am a woman very much in control in that scene,” she added. “I am not being objectified. So I was excited to shoot it. It puts the woman in a very powerful position.”
Despite some production troubles, Lawless is shaping up to be quite promising. We saw the first trailer a few weeks ago and it looked fantastic. That along with the stellar cast and Hillcoat’s gritty direction all have me very excited for this one. Plus, we’ll also be getting a nice Dark Knight Rises reunion between Hardy and Oldman, which alone could be worth the price of admission.
Lawless will screen in Cannes and it will hit theatres on August 29th.
