Chris Evans May’ve Just Confirmed A Major Avengers: Endgame Spoiler

Many a true word is spoken in jest, and during a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Chris Evans seemingly let slip a pretty big Avengers: Endgame spoiler while joking about the drawbacks of spandex.

The star was one of several cast members who partook in the show’s “Just One Question” segment, where he answered a series of queries from The Late Show staffers. One of the questions was, “Who is the Avengers’ biggest enemy?” And while Evans’ co-stars generally went for the obvious answer of Thanos, the Captain America actor offered a surprising alternative:

“Honestly, I’d say chafing. If you’ve ever run through an interdimensional portal wearing a skin-tight body suit, you’ll know what I mean.”

Okay, so obviously the part about chafing is tongue-in-cheek. But why an interdimensional portal? That seems like an oddly specific example, right? After all, when in the MCU movies have we ever seen Cap journey into another dimension? Well, the evidence is stacking pretty high that the First Avenger and several of his peers will be doing just that in next week’s release.

Specifically, it’s long been a popular prediction that the team will journey into the Quantum Realm, perhaps using those white suits that feature in all the trailers and merchandise. What’s more, it’s been a hugely prevalent theory for the past year that the Avengers will use the time vortexes in this mysterious place to journey to earlier points in MCU history, in an effort to reverse the snap.

All in all, it’s looking genuinely likely that Evans said a lot more than he meant to with his chafing joke, but all will be revealed when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
