Even in the event that you haven’t been keeping up to date with box office totals, it should come as no surprise that the last few Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have been killing it in theaters. Back in March, Captain Marvel took the world by storm. Not only was it the first MCU film to feature a woman in the lead role, but it went on to make well over $1 billion, proving to industry naysayers that a female-led film isn’t a financial risk of sorts.
One month later, fans finally got the chance to see Avengers: Endgame, which is currently $6.5 million away from surpassing James Cameron’s Avatar as the highest-grossing pic of all time. And last, but certainly not least, we have Spider-Man: Far From Home, which, despite releasing on a Tuesday, broke a few box office records of its own. To date, it’s already grossed $850 million, and to congratulate star Tom Holland on his newest movie, Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt took to Instagram to share a heartfelt post directed at the young actor.
The video on his social media page was a bit… odd. While Chris claims that he isn’t being paid as a spokesman, he spends a good amount of time promoting Cubcoats, a line of sweaters which also fold into a stuffed animal. However, before he plugs the hybrid clothing/toys, he takes the time to congratulate Tom Holland on Far From Home‘s success at the box office.
In any case, we’ve heard rumors Marvel will regain control of Spidey should the latest MCU flick cross the $1 billion threshold. And while we’re not entirely sure if this is indeed the case, we’ll keep our eyes fixated on Spider-Man: Far From Home as its box office totals continue to climb.
