It appears that the pattern has continued with foreign countries supplying the scares in the latest horror films. Spain has become popular for giving us the scary [REC] series, but this time Colombia is to thank for the scares with the military horror film The Squad.

I like how the film comes out of nowhere with a really creepy trailer that doesn’t waste time explaining a damn thing. It keeps you in the dark for the most part with only a few details given on what the actual film is about.

I enjoy going into these types of horror films with little to no expectations. It usually makes for a more exciting and scary experience and I think that will hold true with this one.

The Squad will be debuting at Fantastic Fest next month, so check it out if you can!

Check out the creepy trailer below, thanks to Twitch.

Synopsis:

All contact with a military base high in the desolate wastelands of Colombia has been lost. The authorities – believing the base to have fallen to a terrorist attack – send a nine-man squad to investigate. When they arrive, the men discover a shocking scene of carnage, and only one survivor – a mute woman in chains.

Gradually the isolation, the inability to communicate with the outside worldand the impossibility of escape begin to undermine the sanity of the soldiers. They start to question the identity of their enemy, and the true nature of the strange, silent woman. Is she a terrorist? A victim? Or something moresinister? Something supernatural… Paranoia takes root. Prisoners of fear and the terrible secret they share, their humanity abandoned, the men turn savagely on each other.

I'm an avid watcher of films and I just love discussing and sharing them with the world. I enjoy horror, sci-fi and mostly any genre under the sun, plus I have a slight obsession with Blu-ray's and the whole high definition craze.
