9 Characters Marvel Got From Fox Who We Can’t Wait To See In The MCU

It's official. Disney now owns 21st Century Fox and its high-profile film franchises after concluding a deal worth $52.4 billion. It's a monumental and game-changing piece of business that's set to change the landscape of cinema and comic book movies forever. Heck, this means that Disney now owns 27% of the entire film industry. Subsequently, it means that Marvel holds the rights for the likes of the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool again. With these characters back in Marvel's playpen, anything is truly possible in the MCU now and we should start seeing it expanding and including all these new players in the not-too-distant future. That said, due to the nature and pace of the industry, some of them might take a little while to enter the fray, while others could be primed and ready to make their MCU debuts as soon as possible. Either way, we've gone through the list of characters that have made the migration from Fox to Disney and looked at who has the best chance of fitting right in without causing any major issues. With the formalities out of the way, let's get into it and look at the characters that'll fit right into the MCU. Doctor Doom For years, people have complained about the quality of the MCU's villains and how weak the antagonists generally are. Whether you believe it or not is completely subjective, and we're not getting into that war here because it's only bound to get ugly. The good news is, the inclusion of Victor Von Doom in the MCU opens up a realm of new possibilities and strengthens the rogue side of things. Not only is he one of the best villains ever created by Marvel Comics, but he can also provide fresh narratives and challenges for Phase 4 and once the Avengers defeat Thanos. Yes, Doctor Doom sucked in Fox's Fantastic Four series (especially the last one where he was basically an online troll), but his inclusion in the MCU could be the most important of them all. There must be a reason that IGN ranked him #3 in the Top 100 Comic Book Villains of All Time, right? Mister Sinister It's a sin (ha!) that we haven't seen the former Nathaniel Essex in an X-Men film yet. As one of the mutants' greatest foes throughout their history, he's been largely absent in the cinematic world - bar that tiny teaser in the X-Men: Apocalypse post-credits scene. In a universe where we've seen Mystique more times than we care for, we've waited far too long for this gene-splicing villain to make his inevitable bow. With someone like Kevin Feige involved in the decision-making of these characters, this will likely change. He's shown that he understands the Marvel universe better than most and is unafraid of bringing out the big guns when necessary. Maybe we'll finally get a story where Magneto takes a back seat and it's Mister Sinister's time to shine for once? Whichever way you look at it, the time is nigh for this villain and he should be making his live-action debut soon. Phew! It's an exciting time to be a Marvel bad guy right now. Deadpool Yes, you read that right. Ryan Reynold's Deadpool will be the perfect addition to the MCU. Now, before you go on a barrage of hate about how the powers that be will Disney-fy the Merc with a Mouth, hear us out here for a second and contain yourself. In the comics, Deadpool pushes the boundaries of PG-13 all the time and yet he still manages to co-exist with the other characters. While it's unlikely that we'll get a full-blown R-rated hero in an MCU-approved family title, it's entirely possible that he could cameo in an Avengers flick and test the boundaries there. A successful property such as Deadpool will undoubtedly remain R-rated for its future movies, but we don't envision it being excluded from the larger universe. You can bet your bottom dollar that Wade Wilson will pop up in unexpected, weird, and wonderful ways. Silver Surfer Now that the Silver Surfer is part of the MCU, can you imagine how cool it'll be if he appears in a Guardians of the Galaxy film? We can - and think it would be a genius move on the part of Kevin Feige and co. Norrin Radd's previous (and only) venture into film was in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. While his appearance was one of the better aspects of the movie, he unfortunately got lost in the shuffle and between the mediocrity of everything else. It's sad because the film, along with the Silver Surfer, had the potential to be something bigger than what it ultimately ended up being. By bringing this Jack Kirby creation into a franchise that embraces the fabled creator and wears his influence on its sleeve, we could be in store for another popular MCU character. Here's hoping that Laurence Fishburne returns to voice Silver Surfer as well. Galactus Like the Silver Surfer, Galactus didn't exactly shine in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. In fact, he was one of its weakest points, looking like nothing more than a giant fart cloud trying to puff-cake you. It's almost unfathomable how the filmmakers could get such an iconic Marvel character so wrong. The template was there - just copy it, dammit! However, like the Surfer, he could easily find himself a new home in the cosmic adventures of the Guardians of the Galaxy. He's considered a powerful and major threat, so it would make sense to set him up as the primary antagonist of a forthcoming film. Wouldn't that be better than some C-grade villain we've seen in the past? We can only imagine how a director such as James Gunn will be licking his lips and already thinking of ways to utilize Galactus in his next project for Marvel. The character is a formidable foe and he's finally back where he belongs now. Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic As Marvel's First Family, it's expected that the Fantastic Four will form a major part of the MCU going forward. They've been ignored and ridiculed for far too long and it's time for them to get the feature film that they deserve. The one member of the group who'll fit in seamlessly with the MCU is their leader, Reed Richards. Can you imagine his first on-screen interaction with Tony Stark and Bruce Banner? It'll be pure gold and full-on nerd-gasms. Additionally, there's the potential to play up his relationship with Peter Parker and set many of their conversations and discussions in the iconic Baxter Building. While the group will surely experience more success in the MCU than ever before, Reed Richards might make himself at home rather quickly. His place is right next to Marvel's greatest minds and he's finally on course to getting there. Storm We've seen Storm feature predominantly in Fox's X-Men series, but now there's a real chance for the character to step out of the shadows of the other mutants. She's much more than just another member of the team and the MCU could provide her with the platform to unleash her full potential and powers. One of the most popular Marvel storylines of the 2000s involved Storm marrying T'Challa (Black Panther) and becoming the Queen of Wakanda. While the marriage didn't stand the test of time (mind you, do any fictional relationships last?), the event was described as the comic-book equivalent of Lady Diana marrying Prince Charles and fans loved it. With Black Panther getting his own solo movie in 2018 and quickly establishing himself as a big hitter in the MCU, don't be surprised if we see further expansion of his stories soon. Putting him and Storm together could give Marvel the power couple they (and every fan) dream of. X-23 With Hugh Jackman adamant that Logan was his last ride, there might be a hesitancy to cast a new Wolverine straight away. After all, whoever takes the role will have to fill mighty big shoes and isn't guaranteed to be a hit with the fans, either. A quick and obvious win would be to focus on Laura Kinney/X-23 and develop her as the new Wolverine for the MCU. With youth on her side and Dafne Keen's burgeoning stock after Logan, there would be a built-in fanbase who are already invested and want to see her grow into the character. Letting Logan rest in peace might be the best idea for now. We've had 17 years of the character and numerous movies, so it isn't like he needs another appearance right away. The Thing In the event that Marvel isn't too hot on the idea of introducing the Fantastic Four right away, there's a good way to test the waters: the Thing. While he's best known for his time with the foursome, he's also been an integral member of the Guardians of the Galaxy and the New Avengers over the years. Ben Grimm's appearance and one-liners will make him a sure-fire hit with the MCU's audience and he could easily walk into any of the current teams and become one of their most loved members. Heck, his famous catchphrase "it's clobberin' time" has been sorely missed in this universe and we think this needs to be rectified. Nothing is set in stone (pardon the pun), but the Thing could be the Fantastic Four member who's used on a trial basis to see where the team will fit into the MCU.
