With Hugh Jackman adamant that Logan was his last ride, there might be a hesitancy to cast a new Wolverine straight away. After all, whoever takes the role will have to fill mighty big shoes and isn’t guaranteed to be a hit with the fans, either.

A quick and obvious win would be to focus on Laura Kinney/X-23 and develop her as the new Wolverine for the MCU. With youth on her side and Dafne Keen’s burgeoning stock after Logan, there would be a built-in fanbase who are already invested and want to see her grow into the character.

Letting Logan rest in peace might be the best idea for now. We’ve had 17 years of the character and numerous movies, so it isn’t like he needs another appearance right away.
