Djimon Hounsou is the latest addition to Alex Proyas’s epic adaptation of Milton’s Paradise Lost. The film, starring Bradley Cooper, is an adaptation of John Milton’s legendary verse poem detailing the battle between heaven and hell and the story of Adam and Eve.

Djimon Hounsou will play Abdiel, aka The Angel of Death. Abdiel is the Angel who betrays Lucifer to God. However, in Milton’s telling, Abdiel is none to happy with either side of the war. Some have theorized that Abdiel was Milton’s stand in inside his own story commenting for him.

Production on Paradise Lost is set to begin production in early 2012 with hopes of having the epic ready for theaters in 2013. Djimon Hounsou will next be seen in November in the action flick Special Forces co-starring Diane Kruger.
