Donald Sutherland To Play President Snow In The Hunger Games

The news is still coming in on people joining the cast of the highly anticipated film version of The Hunger Games. Lionsgate announced Tuesday on its Facebook page that veteran actor Donald Sutherland has been cast as President Snow, the story’s villain. /Film reports that the role of Snow is small in the first book, but becomes bigger in the sequels.

The Hunger Games is based on book one of a three-part series by Suzanne Collins. The other two books are Catching Fire and Mockingjay.

The cast of Gary Ross’ adaptation, which is now filming as stated on IMDb, also includes Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Wes Bentley and Lenny KravitzThe Hunger Games is set to hit theaters on March 23, 2012. There is no word yet on if the other books will be turned into films.
