Dwayne Johnson Will Face An Earthquake In Brad Peyton’s San Andreas

When you need someone to cancel the apocalypse, you call Idris Elba. But who do you call when you need someone to cancel an earthquake? Dwayne Johnson, apparently. The action star is now all set to lead director Brad Peyton's action thriller San Andreas, with production set to begin in April.

When you need someone to cancel the apocalypse, you call Idris Elba. But who do you call when you need someone to cancel an earthquake? Dwayne Johnson, apparently. The action star is now all set to lead director Brad Peyton’s action thriller San Andreas, with production set to begin in April.

Aiming for a Spring 2015 release, the film will see Johnson reunite with his Journey 2: The Mysterious Island director to play a rescue helicopter pilot who faces a giant earthquake as he makes his way across California to save his estranged daughter. If it seems similar to a Rolan Emmerich film, that’s because it is. Apparently the producers are trying to “out-Roland Emmerich Roland Emmerich,” so that should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect with this one.

Johnson is quickly becoming Hollywood’s go-to leading man for big scale action films, and with strong charisma and the perfect physicality for the genre, it’s easy to see why. He’s been able to inject new life into several dying franchises over the past few years and having him headline a film is usually a pretty good recipe for success.

I don’t expect San Andreas to be anything more than a mindless popcorn flick, but with Johnson in the lead and the current goal being to “out-Roland Emmerich Roland Emmerich,” I can definitely see myself having some fun with this one.

Tell us, what do you think about San Andreas? Are you ready for some massive destruction? Happy to see Dwayne Johnson leading another huge action film? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
