In case you haven’t heard – or simply forgot since it’s been languishing in development hell since 2010 – Disney’s Enchanted is getting a sequel. Headed up by Adam Shankman, it’s going to be titled Disenchanted and has Amy Adams reprising her role as a fairytale princess who lands in the real world.

From what we understand, the movie picks up ten years after the events of the original. Princess Giselle (Adams) finds herself questioning her happily-ever-after with beau Robert, a New York divorce attorney who becomes her dream prince in the first film. Following that, Giselle’s doubts supposedly accidentally trigger events that will have serious repercussions in the real world as well as the fairy-tale kingdom of Andalasia.

It’s hardly a surprise that Enchanted has garnered a sequel – it was one of the most successful films of 2007, and actually quite groundbreaking in some ways. What’s surprising is that it’s taken this long to get a second movie off the ground. Now, however, at long last, it seems that the wheels are beginning to turn, as Shankman revealed just this week that the script is nearly done.

“We are handing in a script in a couple weeks that I’m super happy with,” he said. “Then gotta get the music written.”

That’s a small, but promising update, and at the very least, lets us know that Disney still plans to make the pic. I mean, it’s been nothing but radio silence for so long and I think we can all agree that it’s nice to know that things are still in motion. When we’ll actually get to see Disenchanted is another question entirely, but at least we know that it’s coming and as always, we’ll be sure to update you once more info surfaces.
