Endgame May Have Teased An All-Female Avengers Movie

One particular scene in Marvel's Avengers: Endgame may've teased that much-discussed all-female Avengers spinoff we've heard so much about.

Spoilers to follow.

Back in 2017, we learned that Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff and Scarlett Johansson had all expressed an interest in putting together an all-female Marvel movie, and as the star of the MCU’s first female-led effort, it came as little surprise to hear last month that Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson is also pretty into the idea.

And though for the moment, such a project remains nothing more than something on the wishlist of many a fan, this week’s Avengers: Endgame seems to have planted the seeds, or at least tested the waters for an all-female spinoff. And as you’d expect, it made for one of the film’s most exciting scenes.

Without going into too much detail – as we don’t want to spoil all the fun – there’s a moment near the end during the final fight with Thanos where almost every female hero in the MCU comes together on the battlefield and we see them all standing side by side, in the same frame. It’s a potent reminder of what could be and is kind of like that “she’s not alone” scene from Infinity War, only 10x more exciting since there are so many more characters involved.

As we said above, Marvel Studios doesn’t appear to have a project for its leading women on the slate, but producer Kevin Feige has previously claimed that the majority of MCU superheroes will soon be female, and if the studio is looking to follow through on their promises of better representation, then a predominantly female team-up movie seems like a matter or when rather than if at this point.

After all, the aforementioned moment in Endgame seems like it was put in the film to deliberately gauge reactions from fans to see how much interest there’d be in seeing more of that sort of thing, and we imagine people are really going to dig the scene when they finally get to witness it.

Speaking of which, Avengers: Endgame hits theaters this Friday, April 26th, and looks to deliver a superhero spectacle like none other.
