Though December still has a few more days to go, the recent rumor of a Frozen 2 trailer dropping by the end of the month isn’t looking too promising right now, but for what it’s worth, we just might have received our first look at the highly anticipated Disney sequel anyway.
The image taken from a Russian calendar sees the familiar figures of Anna and Elsa against what appears to be a very autumnal backdrop, with some reddish-pink leaves swirling in the foreground. And while there’s always the chance that the picture isn’t legit, an intriguing case has been made in the material’s favor.
To elaborate, late last year, a previous version of the calendar contained licensing art for Solo: A Star Wars Story prior to the film’s marketing truly kicking into gear, with the first trailer and other promotional material coming out later than usual due to the movie’s various problems behind the scenes. It’s therefore not too much of a stretch to think that this calendar could also be the unlikely source for a first look at the Frozen sequel, but perhaps take this artwork with a pinch of salt regardless.
Either way, things seem to be progressing well for the Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee’s next film, with the latter reporting last month that several songs have already been completed for the picture. Of course, when you consider how long the studio has had to work on the project, it only figures that Disney can stay on schedule, and you probably can’t blame them for taking their time, either, given the bar set by the insanely popular 2013 original. In any case, we’ll find out if Frozen 2 can make the long wait worth it when the film hits theaters on November 22nd, 2019.
