Mad Max: Fury Road (May 15th)
The first Mad Max movie to hit theatres in 30 years, this reboot comes from original creator George Miller and stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron. Characterized as a reboot that is not a remake, the film takes the character of Max and tells a new story about his struggles in post-apocalyptic Australia, years after losing his family.
Jurassic World (June 12th)
With Jurassic Park having become one of the highest grossing films of all time back in 1993, it is perhaps unsurprising that Universal would seek to wring more money out of it. So, Jurassic World takes us back to Isla Nublar twenty-two years after a T-Rex wrought havoc, and resets the clock – having a state-of-the-art dinosaur safari park fully operational, until its operators take a step too far and create an attraction that gets a little out hand.
Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio and Jake Johnson star in this reboot by the creative team behind Safety Not Guaranteed.
The Transporter Legacy (June 19th)
Rebooting the story as if the first three Transporter films never happened, creator Luc Besson has taken the central character – previously played by Jason Statham – and set him in a new tale, where he will be played by Game Of Thrones star Ed Skrein.
Set across the French Riviera, Transporter Frank Martin must battle Russian human traffickers, and the group of women trying to take them down, in order to rescue his father from kidnappers.
Terminator: Genisys (July 1st)
Apparently bringing the structure of Back To The Future to the Terminator universe, this franchise reboot has the story intersecting with itself as Kyle Reese finds himself in a new timeline. Teaming up with Sarah Connor, the two work to prevent Judgement Day – presumably in a slightly different way than they did before.
Emilia Clarke plays this iteration of Sarah Connor, with Jai Courtney appearing as Kyle Reese. Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his role as the Terminator, while other Terminators are listed as played by Byung-hun Lee (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) and Aaron V. Williamson (American Heist).
Fantastic Four (August 7th)
We’ve already had a trailer for this reboot of the 2005 Fantastic Four franchise, and it promises something quite new and different. Starring Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell as the superhero team, this update comes from Chronicle director Josh Trank, with a script by X-Men: Days Of Future Past screenwriter Simon Kinberg, as well as Trank and Jeremy Slater.
A sequel has already been scheduled for release in 2017, so Fox must be feeling pretty confident.
Hitman: Agent 47 (August 28th)
It’s relatively easy to make a case for a reboot of something as successful as Jurassic Park. A reboot of 2007’s Hitman, on the other hand, is frankly baffling.
The first version saw Timothy Olyphant don the suit and red tie under the direction of Xavier Gens. The reboot has Olyphant replaced by Rupert Friend (Homeland), with Aleksander Bach making his feature film directorial debut. Also starring Zachary Quinto, Ciaran Hinds and Hannah Ware, the story sees the Hitman team up with a woman to save her father. The desire to reboot can only be explained by the fact that it is based on a very popular video game.
Star Wars – Episode VII: The Force Awakens (December 18th)

Amityville: The Awakening (Release TBA)
In a surprising turn of events rarely seen in horror films, a single mother moves into a new house with her children, and unpleasant things of a paranormal nature begin to happen. Written and directed by Franck Khalfoun (Maniac), this reboot stars Bella Thorne, Cameron Monaghan, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Taylor Spreitler and Kurtwood Smith.
