9 Questions We Have After Watching Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has now made its way into cinemas in certain parts of the globe - with the US release to follow on May 5th - and so far, the movie has proved to be another barnstorming success for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the sequel grossing roughly $100 million dollars internationally in its opening weekend. Admittedly, reviews have been a little more mixed than they were with the first film, but most can agree that it's an extremely worthy sequel to the 2014 instant classic.

8) Is Mantis A Guardian Now?

The original five Guardians of the Galaxy gain some new allies in Vol. 2 in their fight to save the universe from Ego’s will. We’ll get to the others in a moment, but first let’s look at Mantis, who by the end of the movie stays with the team on board the Milano.

So, does this mean that she’s now an official member of the Guardians? It would seem so, as we know that Mantis will make an appearance alongside the other heroes in Avenger: Infinity War. You might wonder what she could offer the team, seeing as her empathetic abilities are quite passive (though she does play a key role in subduing Ego). Well, in the comics, Mantis is actually revealed to be a super-powered Celestial herself, so that’s something that could definitely happen at some point in the future.

Likewise, could Drax and Mantis become a couple? Despite the former’s repeated claims that he finds the latter repulsive to look at, the amount of time the two characters spend together in Vol. 2 does suggest that there might be something between them in future.
