9 Questions We Have After Watching Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has now made its way into cinemas in certain parts of the globe - with the US release to follow on May 5th - and so far, the movie has proved to be another barnstorming success for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with the sequel grossing roughly $100 million dollars internationally in its opening weekend. Admittedly, reviews have been a little more mixed than they were with the first film, but most can agree that it's an extremely worthy sequel to the 2014 instant classic.

1) What Will The Soundtrack Be Like In Vol. 3?

One of the most important factors of the GotG franchise is its amazing soundtrack that’s full of classic throwback tracks. Cleverly, the music is a mix of digetic and non-digetic, as the songs can all be found in Peter’s “Awesome Mix” tapes given to him by his mother. The first movie’s music was drawn from the first tape and Vol. 2 even gets its title from the second tape.

The sequel, likewise, sets up the soundtrack for Vol. 3 by giving Peter a Zune MP3 player, which he hilariously thinks is the height of Earth technology. We learn that it contains 300 songs, which gives the next movie a massive musical scope to choose from.

As the Zune is from more recent times than the tapes from Peter’s childhood in the 1980s, it could mean that the flavour of music changes, as well, as modern songs could find their way onto the soundtrack. Whatever tunes are chosen for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3we have faith in James Gunn and his team to deliver another terrific soundtrack. Which will hopefully be the icing on the cake of an already terrific film.
