It wasn’t long before theories started to emerge about what this image could be, and while some are more plausible than others, even the less believable ones can get pretty creative. Interestingly, an idea we’ve seen pop up more than once now is that this heavily lit object is the same alleged cannon we witnessed in a previous teaser pic from the Russo Brothers.

Beyond this, the responses include several predictions of death, rebirth, or the introduction of a whole new character.

Of course, for all we know this image could be showing something totally mundane like, say, a microphone or some guy’s elbow.

As the year nears its end, we can surely expect some more official details come our way after months of Marvel Studios remaining stubbornly tight-lipped. For one thing, it would be nice to know what the Avengers: Infinity War sequel will actually be called, putting an end to months of speculation around a title that surely can’t be worth all this build-up. Better yet, producer Kevin Feige has previously mentioned that the film’s first trailer will be out by the end of this year, the release date of which has been the subject of its own line of theories.

For now, however, the Russo Brothers and their colleagues continue to keep us in the dark, but all will be revealed when Avengers 4 comes out on May 3rd, 2019.
