Everything You Need To Know About Justice League

Currently, in the world of theatrical film, we are awash with superheroes. It is virtually impossible to pay a visit to the local multiplex without being bombarded with the latest marketing scheme for the next comic book adaptation. These characters, it seems, are practically queuing up to impress us with their amazing feats and remarkable prowess, and there is no sign that anyone intends to stem the flow any time soon. If anything, that tide is rising.

Appearances of Justice League onscreen have to date been, for the most part, limited to animation – with the exception of appearances in the 1979 live-action TV series Legends Of The Superheroes, and brief appearances in Smallville. The most successful iteration of the team was arguably Super Friends – an animated series that ran from 1973 to 1986. Beyond that, the characters have featured in The Superman/Aquaman Hour Of Adventure in 1967, two seasons of Justice League for the Cartoon Network (re-worked as Justice League Unlimited for a further three seasons), and the cartoon Young Justice, which had its own follow-up titled Young Justice: Invasion.

Outside of its comic book origins, Justice League is perhaps most noted for its non-theatrical animated movies – much like team member Wonder Woman – with seven major releases from DC since 2008, as well as Lego Batman: The Movie – DC Superheroes Unite, and JLA Adventures: Trapped In Time. Original Justice League team members – with the exception of Martian Manhunter – also featured individually in The LEGO Movie.
