The official plot synopsis for Man Of Steel has been revealed. Coming to us from an open casting call, this seems pretty legit and is likely the official synopsis. CBM has the scoop, as usual, and here’s what they think the synopsis is.

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.”

Honestly, this isn’t too exciting and I’m actually hoping that this isn’t the real summary. This looks like a pure origins film and truthfully, I was hoping that we wouldn’t get a lot of that. From the description above, it looks like Clark will only really become Superman at the end of the film, which would quite frankly, suck.

Obviously they have to spend some time establishing Clark Kent as a character but to spend an entire film on it seems rather silly. Most people seeing this already know his origin story, why waste a whole film on it? Have it take up maybe 15 or 20 minutes, that’s it.

I also find it funny how they say “will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer?” If I had to guess, I’d probably go with divide and conquer, fair guess? And yes, that sarcasm was fully intended.

That all being said, let’s give the film a chance. Warner Bros. has a lot riding on Man Of Steel and I really don’t think they’d just throw together some half-assed film. Hopefully this is either not the real plot summary, or the actual film is a lot more exciting than the synopsis makes it out to be.
