As 2015 comes to a close, it’s time we reflect on the cinematic gifts we’ve been given. From another steadfast Tarantino success to an unexpected beauty in George Miller’s Mad Max reboot, it’s been one hell of a ride. We were charmed by multiple animated victories, touched by a dying girl, and said goodbye to familiar faces we had to let go of.

For all the duds we regrettably sat through, there were an equal number of worthwhile titles that took our emotions for a ride, or got our adrenaline pumping. Maybe even raised a hair or two? But before we get to my Top 10 films of there year, let me first honor those runner-ups who made a case for glory:

20) The Connection

19) Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation

18) Felt

17) Inside Out

16) Night Owls

15) Ex Machina

14) Trainwreck

13) Shaun The Sheep

12) It Follows

11) Straight Outta Compton

Straight Outta Compton is the one that hurts the most, as I would have loved to give it top honors. Shaun The Sheep certainly surprised me, Amy Schumer showed what a heavyweight comedic talent she really is in Trainwreck, and Ex Machina – well, do I need to say more than “Oscar Isaac Dance Number?” All the films above deserve just as much recognition as the ones to come, but you’re here for the best, and I’ll give it to ya.

Let’s take a look at my Top 10 Movies of 2015…
