Silent Hill: Revelation, the sequel to 2006’s Silent Hill is hitting theatres soon and thanks to Fearnet a new poster has premiered online, which you can check out below.

This new poster greets us with a nurse wielding a meat cleaver on what looks like a fractured right hip. The artwork indicates a meshing of horror tropes: the vile and the alluring, i.e. the ugly villain and an attractive lead.

Combining them into a singular corpus is a clever marketing move. You are repelled by the walnut her head’s been replaced with yet drawn into the busty cleavage. It’s classic horror and it’s a fantastic glimpse back into the world of Silent Hill.

Scheduled for release at the end of this month, the official synopsis reads:

Heather Mason (Adelaide Clemens) and her father (Sean Bean) have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by horrific nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she’s not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her forever.

The rest of the cast includes: Carrie-Anne Moss, Radha Mitchell, Malcolm McDowell, Deborah Kara Unger and Martin Donovan.

With a cast that’s above average for a follow-up to a horror movie based on a video game, Silent Hill: Revelation could be the rare B-movie sequel that doesn’t disappoint. The first flick was scarier than other video adaptations evolving at the same time too. Resident Evil got kudos for being gory, but the films spun into actioners by deveining the scares. Silent Hill proved faithful to the utter terror in simplicity and timing demonstrated in the initial game.

It’s a massive shame it will be deflowered by the beast of all formats, 3D, but fingers crossed it’ll be screened in 2D. Let us know what your thoughts on this new poster are in the comments below.

Silent Hill: Revelation opens on October 26th.
