No, Riverdale’s Cole Sprouse Isn’t Playing Robin In The Batman

Despite what the internet might think, Riverdale's Cole Sprouse isn't playing Robin in Matt Reeves' The Batman, and here's why.

At last, Robert Pattinson was officially confirmed as the new Batman earlier this week, meaning that Matt Reeves’ upcoming reboot of the Caped Crusader is finally on the go. Alongside that news though, we were also told that Pattinson’s hero won’t be saving Gotham by himself, as he might be about to form a dynamic duo with Robin.

That’s right. According to Forbes, the Boy Wonder may play a role in The Batman, with a casting announcement said to be coming soon. When it’ll arrive, we can’t say for sure, but this weekend, an interesting rumor started doing the rounds that said none other than Cole Sprouse from Riverdale had snagged the part. Considering the outlet the news originated from, though, it’s pretty clear that it was nothing more than a joke.

You see, the story came from Twitter account Le Cinephiles, a satire page who often post ridiculous news that simply isn’t true. As such, it’s best to just dismiss this one and not get too excited over the possibility. Then again, the internet seemed pretty split on Sprouse as Robin when Le Cinephiles first Tweeted about it anyways, so we don’t imagine too many people will be upset to learn that it isn’t happening.

At the moment, we still aren’t even sure which version of the character we’ll be seeing. From Dick Grayson to Jason Todd to Tim Drake, there’ve been several different Robins over the years and Warner Bros. has yet to reveal which one may feature in The Batman. That is, if they even plan to include a sidekick for Pattinson’s Dark Knight at all.

For now, we’ll just have to sit tight and see what they’ve got planned, but at least we know that if Robin does indeed show up in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, it won’t be Cole Sprouse playing him.
