Shazam! Director Says Aquaman Has Some Of The Most Spectacular Action And Visuals Ever

Shazam! director David F. Shazam! director David F. Sandberg took to Twitter last night to praise the spectacle of Arthur Curry’s solo debut:

“Man, #Aquaman was epic! Some of the most spectacular action and visuals ever!”

Though the director of the DCEU’s next offering after Aquaman should probably be regarded as a biased source, Sandberg is far from the only viewer to have some kinds words to say about James Wan’s new film. At the time of writing, the movie holds a score of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 127 reviews, which may not suggest Wonder Woman levels of acclaim, but it’s still enough to put the film a good deal ahead of every other DCEU entry.

Meanwhile, audiences seem even more keen on the movie than the critics, with the feature recently passing the $260 million mark at the international box office. What’s more, this success looks set to sustain with the flick’s North America release, with Aquaman recently projected to take in $65 million on its opening weekend and upwards of $100 million on the five-day holiday weekend.

At this rate, it seems all but inevitable that Arthur Curry will be landing a sequel, with one report from a couple of weeks ago alleging that talks of a follow-up have already begun at Warner Bros. You can decide for yourself if the Aquaman story is worth continuing when the film hits theaters on December 21st, before Sandberg introduces Billy Batson to the DCEU with Shazam!, which comes out on April 5th, 2019.
