It’s part and parcel of the blockbuster business that every new superhero movie will give their title character a fresh set of gear, largely due to the desire to churn out a whole new line of merchandise. One of the byproducts is that it often gives away major looks at the project in question months ahead of time, and we can now add Spider-Man: No Way Home to that list.
Various other tie-ins have showcased a new black and gold suit for Tom Holland’s web-slinger, but the latest images to promote the upcoming Hot Toys collectible have offered an incredibly detailed look at the costume. It’s previously been compared to the Anti-Ock outfit in the Spider-Man video game, but the Times Square backdrop was famously where Andrew Garfield faced off with Jamie Foxx’s Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, so there could be a multiversal aspect to his new duds, as you can see in the pictures below.
Now that Loki has opened the door to the multiverse, we’ve got a ready-made narrative and mythological reason for the heavily rumored Sinister Six to make their way into the MCU timeline and wreak havoc for anywhere up to three Spideys. It would look as though Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange will be taking the wall-crawler on a trip through time and space, so it’s little wonder Holland boldly declared No Way Home to be the single most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made.
Of course, we’re still waiting on that trailer to discover exactly which direction the plot is headed, not to mention some clarity on those relentless Garfield and Tobey Maguire rumors, but the black and gold suit in Spider-Man: No Way Home appears to be for function as much as fashion.
