The Joker (Jared Leto)
Perhaps the most infamous of the DC supervillains, The Joker is a psychopath. He is sadistic, manipulative and homicidal – and has the singular agenda of anarchic destruction, particularly of his arch-nemesis, Batman. The Joker has a long, antagonistic history with the Dark Knight, and it is the vigilante that’s responsible for his incarceration and his subsequent relationship with Harley Quinn.
The Joker’s methods of choice are weaponized props and poisons, although he’s also skilled in hand-to-hand combat. His primary resource is his unhinged, genius-level intellect, however, which makes him one of the most dangerous criminals on the planet.
Like Batman, we’ve seen numerous portrayals of The Joker in live-action cinema before – but Suicide Squad promises a brand new view of this iconic character. This is because we’ll see him, not only in his guise as primary Batman supervillain, but also engaging with other significant villains for the first time in decades.
