‘The Flash’ getting even more last-minute changes hints James Gunn hasn’t washed away the scent of the old DCU

Some things may never change.

Having blown in the door and already accomplished more in four months than J.J. Abrams did in four years, James Gunn has breathed new life into the DCU. Unless of course you’re a staunch SnyderVerse supporter, in which case he’s ruined it beyond repair.

However, after rumors began circulating that The Flash was set for even more last-minute changes mere weeks ahead of its theatrical release, it would appear that not even another regime change can wash away the stench of the old guard, who loved nothing more than getting a little too involved in the franchise’s ongoing projects.

The latest slab of scuttlebutt comes from self-proclaimed insider KC Walsh, who offers that the conclusion to the story has been changed to something more “vague,” with promises that “cameos galore” have been added very late in the day. In addition, the biggest potential bombshell of all is allegedly “a CW connection and a dream cameo,” although that’s about as concrete as it gets.

Needless to say, the internet masses have been having a field day, with The Flash edging ever closer to finally hitting the big screen after a decade in development hell, and speculation still running rampant about what it could all mean.

We’ve become conditioned to expect one of the greatest superhero blockbusters of the modern age when the Scarlet Speedster roars into multiplexes at long last, but ladling on the fan service would be the cherry on top of the cake. Unless of course it ends up leaving things feeling overstuffed, which would be an ironically fitting way to bow out given the original DCU’s history.
