Upcoming Marvel projects that could return Vision to the MCU

There are a number of options.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, few characters as beloved as Paul Bettany’s Vision. The android with a heart of gold was somewhat under-developed before getting time to shine in WandaVision and since the end of this project, he has been out there somewhere and now fans are wondering just when he will return. Luckily for them and Bettany, there are a number of options.

To begin with, the most likely would be the upcoming Vision Quest television show. It is in development with no release date, plot or casting beyond Bettany being known at this time. Given the success of WandaVision, it is logical that Disney would want a similar hit on the streaming service and as WandaVision and Agatha: Coven of Chaos head writer Jac Schaeffer is involved, it looks like this is the safe bet. Given the increased connections in television, we can see something in Agatha: Coven of Chaos leading into this project or at least touching on what exactly it will be when the supernatural story premieres at some point later on this year.

On the film front, there are some possibilities as well. Though the current run of movies has touched on the implications of Kang the Conqueror and the multiverse without diving into it too deeply, this will all change once Avengers: The Kang Dynasty debuts in 2025. Several actors have been rumored for the project or played coy (hello, Charlie Cox) and in any kind of crossover movie, you want to have surprises in store for fans. So, look for Vision here or Avengers: Secret Wars in 2026 if the battle gets too big. After all, there are more characters than ever in the franchise now, so it makes sense to keep a little bit of powder dry for later.

These are the places where Bettany may be best suited, but, of course things can change. Projects can always get cancelled, characters can always be saved for later and roles can always get cut. Some think the Young Avengers will become a project and Vision will be included there as an older mentor. All is possible, but, for now, we can only wait and see what will become true. Paul Bettany has said he has several ideas for more which can be done with the lovable android, so, he could end up in one return project, or even multiple. To think he was told his career was over just before he got the call from Joss Whedon to play the part.
