10 Unmissable Sets At The 2014 Moonrise Festival

The first ever Moonrise Festival in Baltimore, Maryland boasts an epic line up full of the hottest names in EDM. Steeze Promo and Glow DC spared no expense to bring in the best and inevitably the most expensive names in trap, bass, d&b and trance. Taking place over a single weekend, August 9-10th, the festival will see two amazing headlining acts in Kaskade and Bassnectar. If you don't like Kaskade or Bassnectar, or at the very least can have fun while they're on stage, your ears might be broken. These amazing producers have two very different approaches to their music, but they're both equally genius in their approach to crafting songs that make millions of fans go nuts. Outside of the industry gold-standard headliners, the rest of the line-up is also as stacked as they come. With the festival so full of top-tier talent, it's hard to decide who you should see. So, in order to help you out, here are 10 unmissable acts that you definitely need to check out if you're heading to Baltimore's first ever Moonrise Festival. Zeds Dead Still riding the wave of their amazing new EP Somewhere Else, seeing this duo live right now is absolutely something you cannot miss. Every single song on their new record is great; eclectic, multi-genre and perfectly sculpted, you can hit play on the first song and never skip a beat until the end. On replay in my house since its release, I urge you to see them deliver these songs and this vibe live. I've caught Zeds Dead twice this summer, at Electric Forest and the Mad Decent Block Party, and this new album brings in excellent dynamics and artful highs and lows to their always-on-point live performances. Hadouken, Lost You and Where Are You Now are my personal favorite tracks at the moment, but it's torturous to have to pick. Every single tune is excellent. Don't miss them. Anna Lunoe Deep house diva Anna Lunoe is an Australian beauty who produced some of the sexiest, deep house tracks of the last year. Her original song Breathe, her collab with Touch Sensitive, Real Talk, and recent release with Treasure Fingers, Bad MF, has the blogosphere loving house music's favorite female producer/DJ. A live set of her produces a happy, bouncy vibe that has the whole crowd digging in deep and loving her super sexy stage presence. Be sure to catch this super star before she's huge. Lindsay Lowend Purveyor of funky glitchop and weird vibes that are just irresistible, Lindsay Lowend is one of those artists that delivers weird perfectly. His latest single, they don't speak our language, is bizarre and abstract, yet somehow exactly what you want. My favorite original production of his, Ashtray, is one of those tracks to which you've rarely heard something similar, so you absolutely love falling into the new groove your ears are hearing. Do not miss Lindsay Lowend if you want a brand new sound to get down to. He will not disappoint. Moon Boots Pete Dougherty, better known as his alias Moon Boots, is one of the hottest artists on the French Express label right now. "These boots were made for hopping around in zero gravity"....that's also what the light-hearted, airy beats of this producer were made for. Effortlessly happy and upbeat, the Moon Boots vibe is perfect for almost any time night or day. Chill, sexy and always a buzz enhancer, don't miss this guy in Baltimore. Tchami French DJ and producer from Spinnin' Records, Tchami is one of those guys who almost never misses the mark. He produces tracks that are instantly loved by fans and fellow producers alike and he always puts together a slammin' mix of tunes for everyone to enjoy. Original productionUntrue and his rework of Move Your Body are two songs to check out to get you acquainted with this hot-as-fire producer. Clockwork The econd alias of the amazing RL Grime, Clockwork is LA producer Henry Steinway's outlet to make more club and festival-esque sounds. His latest release out on Dim Mak Records (Steve Aoki's label), entitled Signals and featuring Taylor Renee, is a big room style masterpiece with heavy emphasis given to Taylor's beautifully feminine voice. If you're an RL Grime fan, check out Clockwork. It may not be that trappy goodness you're looking for, but it's a vibe curated by the same crowd master and I promise you that it will not be a bad time. Djemba Djemba "Djemba Djemba is music born from a state of permanent contradiction, held together by one underlying and adaptive principle: rhythm." Experimenting with polyrhythms, 90’s FM synths, and the all-important 808 Kick, Djemba Djemba crafts a sound that is intelligent and serene. He isn't afraid to try new things… and nail them. A UK drum and bass feel permeates some of his original tracks, and you can tell this guy enjoys taking chances. Be sure to cheek him out at Moonrise for something a bit different. Mayhem vs. Antiserum As the hip-hop/trap capitol of world, Atlanta gave rise to one of EDM trap's best acts in Mayhem. San Francisco, on the other hand, blessed us with Antiserum, and together they have collaborated to produce some of the genre's biggest anthems. Most notably, their tune Brick Squad was so ahead of its time it still resonates well with crowds today. Antiserum and Helicopter Showdown's single, entitled Can U Feel Me (Antiserum remix), is still one of my favorite tracks of all-time. These two really know how to ignite a crowd and they always pepper in these massive bangers--do not miss them going b2b while you're in Baltimore. Tommy Trash Always an excellent showman, Tommy Trash continues to be one of the most underrated artists out there. He never puts on a bad show, he produces some of big room's top anthems (Reload) and he always creates extreme happiness and a dance-till-you-drop environment. He's high quality, high energy and definitely an artist you should make sure to catch.
